SPLA transfers 11 prisoners of war to Juba

SPLA have transferred eleven prisoners of war from Western Bahr al Ghazal State to the national capital Juba. They were captured in fighting in Raja County early this month.

SPLA have transferred eleven prisoners of war from Western Bahr al Ghazal State to the national capital Juba. They were captured in fighting in Raja County early this month.

Army spokesperson Phillip Aguer told the UN radio service that they will treat the prisoners of war in accordance with international law standards and release them after interrogation. 

“Eleven persons were captured in Raja County in Western Bahr el Ghazal State on the fourth and fifth of this month. They were transported from Raja to Wau and then to the headquarters of SPLA in Juba… After finishing investigations with them, they will be released according to international conflicts law,” he said.

The Defense Minister Kuol Manyang earlier told Radio Tamazuj that the group includes several officers and they were captured during fighting around Sere Malaga, at the border of Raja County.
