SPLA to pay blood money for two Rizeigat killed at the border

The Sudan People’s Liberation Army (SPLA) have agreed to pay blood compensation for the killing of two Rizeigat Arab tribesmen recently at the border between Darfur and South Sudan, according to a Rizeigat chief.

Musa Adam Wadi, a prominent Riziegat chief from Sudan’s East Darfur state, said the Paramount Chief of Rizeigat Mahmoud Madibu has formed a committee from tribal leaders to go to Gok Machar in South Sudan’s Northern Bahr el Ghazal state to agree on the blood compensation with the SPLA.

He said the two sides have agreed last week that the SPLA in Aweil North County will pay blood compensation to family of two Rizeigat men killed by SPLA. The Rizeigat will also pay blood compensation to an SPLA soldier and compensate another two soldiers who were injured.

Last Sunday an SPLA force exchanged fire with herders from Rizeigat tribe in al-Miraya area on the border with East Darfur state, where two herders were killed from the Rizeigat and a soldier from SPLA was killed and two others were injured.
