The SPLA will conduct air exercises over Juba leading up to 9 July independence day using two L-39 jet aircraft.
SPLA spokesperson Lul Ruai Koang said the public should not panic if they see the two jets flying over Juba Friday and Saturday.
L-39 aircraft are a small, low-cost jet aircraft mainly used to train fighter pilots. However, they can be equipped with light weaponry and used in some combat operations.
L-39 jets were produced in the former Czechoslovakia from 1971-1996.
Lul did not respond to inquiries from Radio Tamazuj regarding when these aircraft were acquired or from whom.
The SPLA spent over forty million dollars last year to purchase attack helicopters, part of over 850 million dollars spent on weaponry during the last two and a half years of civil war.
