Sudan People’s Liberation Army (SPLA) spokesperson Col. Philip Aguer told Radio Tamazuj that there is still insecurity in various parts of Western Equatoria state.

In Mundri County, he said citizens are still displaced because of repeated violent incidents in the area. The clashes have come between citizens and SPLA forces and hundreds of people are now living in remote areas away from the violence.

“Civilians have fled to areas which are very far from Mundri,” he said. “There is need for restoration of the security situation like before the incidents so that residents can return to their homes within the town. I hope the relevant authorities will find a solution and provide security to citizens in Western Equatoria.”

Local authorities have blamed the SPLA and asked them to stop committing attacks on the people of Western Equatoria.
