SPLA soldiers recover stolen cattle in Juba

Cattle raiders attacked on Saturday a herd of cattle belonging to an SPLA general in New Site killing a woman and injuring a soldier, a source said.

The source, a Juba resident, accused raiders from one of the tribes of Central Equatoria of responsibility for the attack. But a chief from the same tribe speaking to Radio Tamazuj on Monday said he had heard generally about the incident but did not have enough information to comment on the matter.

The attack caused panic among citizens of Juba's New Site area, according to the Juba resident.

On Sunday SPLA followed the cattle raiders and recovered the stolen animals, the source said. “These are criminals who want to cause disorder among the people and do not want to listen to the chiefs,” he said, referring to the raiders.
