SPLA soldier shoots four people in Juba

A member of South Sudan's SPLA shot several people in Juba's Souk Zande residential area on Thursday evening, according to multiple sources. Four are feared dead, including one woman.

A resident of the area recounted that around 8 p.m. on Thursday following a dispute the SPLA officer shot the victims dead on the spot. He was reportedly drunk and ran away, leaving his AK-47 at the crime scene.

The officer was later arrested and jailed at SPLA Military Police in Bilpham. Investigation is underway, according to a source from SPLA Military Police.

Another military source confirmed the incident saying that the officer was a member of the 'Commando' force under General Bol Akot. He was coming from Luri to visit his relatives in town but got drunk.

However, this second military source did not say the number of victims involved.
