An SPLA soldier was killed and another injured at Hai Khamsin in Wau town as a result of exchange of fire between SPLA soldiers and National Security forces who were carrying out night patrols on Sunday.
A source told Radio Tamazuj on Monday that the incident took place after three SPLA soldiers raided a house at Hai Khamsin, prompting a local resident to contact the night patrol of security forces.
The same source further said one SPLA soldier was killed on the spot and another sustained injuries as a result of exchange of fire between the two sides.
However, the mayor of Wau town, Mel Aleu Goc, claimed that the SPLA soldier was injured because he did not obey an order given to him.
“There was an armed SPLA soldier who was coming to the town on a motorbike, so when he was asked to stop for verification, he did not respond but he was not killed, he is now fine. It was an order given by the state authorities that soldiers are not allowed to carry guns wearing while civilian cloth,” he said.
