SPLA promises probe into Kubi rape

Lul Ruai Koang, Military Spokesman of the SPLA forces, said the army leadership has ordered an investigation into reports of mass rape by government soldiers after an attacked on Kubi village along the Juba-Nimule road recently.

Lul told Radio Tamazuj yesterday that the SPLA army had received reports of rape cases allegedly by government soldiers in Kubi village. He pointed out that would investigate the incident and that the perpetrators will face justice.

Doctors confirm rape

Separately, several doctors at Juba Teaching Hospital confirmed that they had received women who were raped in Kubi village on Monday.

A doctor who preferred anonymity said at least four women, including a minor girl were confirmed raped, while another woman was severely beaten with her finger broken.

Meanwhile, Episcopal Bishop Paul Yugusuk, said unconfirmed number of wounded people in Kubi could not reach Juba Teaching Hospital. He pointed out at least four people including a child were confirmed wounded in the area.

The religious leader accused the SPLA soldiers in Kubi of preventing the wounded people from travelling to Juba for treatment, saying a wounded mother with her child were stopped while travelling to Juba.
