SPLA officer detained in Warrap on suspicion of taking bribe

Authorities in Warrap state have arrested an SPLA officer from 3rd Division for questioning after it was alleged he took a bribe to allow two suspected fraudsters to escape from prison, sources said.

The officer was transported to Kuacjok for questioning, one source said.

Another source told Radio Tamazuj the two suspected fraudsters were in custody at Mayen Jur area of Gogrial East. They allegedly had been in possession of counterfeit money which they used to buy over 70 cows from local people.

“They were really having huge money and they have bought many cows," a source said. "We don't know the money they have was not genuine until one it dropped in the water and immediately dissolve into the water, and this has lead to their arrested about three months ago,” said the source.

Local authorities at Mayen Jur arrested the brother of one of the two suspects in order to gather information as to the whereabouts of his relative.

Radio Tamazuj is unable to reach Gogrial authorities for comment.
