SPLA-N repulses army attack in Bau locality

The Sudan People’s Liberation Army-North (SPLM-N) said they repulsed an attack by the Sudanese Armed Forces (SAF) at Jebel Kilgo in Bau Locality in Sudan’s Blue Nile State on 7 and 10 May.

Arnu Ngutulu Lodi, the SPLM-N military spokesman, told Radio Tamazuj that the government forces attacked them on Thursday.

He claimed they inflicted heavy losses on the government soldiers in terms of life and properties. Arnu further said the SAF attacked them again over the last two days in the area.

Arnu claimed they managed to destroy four tanks and seized a truck mounted with ammunition, and killed several SAF soldiers on the spot while capturing one.

The rebel spokesman said one SPLA-North soldier was killed during the clashes and three wounded.

Silence over casualty numbers

Meanwhile, a source from the Damazin Military Hospital who preferred anonymity told Radio Tamazuj that the facility has recently received dozens of dead bodies and wounded soldiers after the clashes in Bagis and Kilgo areas in late last week.

The government reportedly refused to announce any losses incurred by the SAF and its allied militia during those clashes.

Meanwhile, a family whose son was killed in those clashes confirmed to Radio Tamazuj that the government threatened them not to give any information about the losses incurred by the government soldiers in Bau locality.

Radio Tamazuj couldn’t reach the spokesman of the Sudanese army Col. Al Sawarmi Khalid Saad to comment on the claims.
