The Sudan People’s Liberation Army-North (SPLA-N) said it repulsed two separate attacks by the Sudanese Armed Forces and its allied militia in South Kordofan and Blue Nile states.
In a statement yesterday, SPLA-N spokesperson Arnu Ngutulu Lodi said they repelled an attack by the Sudanese Armed Forces at Dalouka area, about 80 kilometres south of South Kordofan capital Kadugli.
He said clashes forced the government forces to withdraw from various areas including Angarto and El Geneziya.
He claimed that about 20 SAF soldiers were killed in the battles at Dalouka and El Geneiziya. He admitted that two SPLA-N fighters were killed and nine others sustained injured.
Arnu pointed out that they also destroyed one Ural lorry mounted with a missile.
Separately, the SPLM-N spokesman stated that they managed to seize large quantities of light and heavy weapons in good condition from the fleeing government forces in southern Blue Nile including a brand-new T-72 tank, four Ural lorries, four Land Cruisers, and four 12.7 ml machine-guns.
Col. Sawarmi Khaled Saad, the spokesman of the Sudan Armed Forces, said in media reports in Khartoum that their forces took control of two villages in South Kordofan, naming them as El Geneiziya northeast of Kadugli and Angarto.
He said that they killed about 100 rebel troops in Angarto and captured two Land Cruisers from the rebels. He acknowledged that the Sudan Armed Forces suffered some casualties but did not mention specific numbers.
