The Sudan People’s Liberation Movement-North (SPLM-N) has refuted claims by the presidency that the rebels rejected an invitation to resume peace talks on the Two Areas.

Previously, Sudan’s Presidential Assistant and government chief negotiator at the Addis Ababa talks Ibrahim Ghandour said that the SPLM declined to respond to an invitation by the head of African Union High Implementation Panel (AUHIP) Thabo Mbeki.

In a statement seen by Radio Tamazuj Sunday, SPLM-N spokesman Mubarak Ardol denied the accusation.

He further said that there was an invitation letter extended only to the Sudanese Revolutionary Front (SRF) as one organization and the chairman of National Umma Party (NUP) al-Sadiq al-Mahdi.

Ardol reiterated their position for a holistic solution for the Sudan crisis.

Meanwhile, leaders of the Sudanese Revolutionary Front (SRF) along with al-Sadiq al-Mahdi have arrived in the Ethiopian capital Addis Ababa on Saturday at an invitation by Thabo Mbeki where they will discuss ways to bring about peace in Sudan.
