SPLA-N claims partial control of Alatmor area in South Kordofan

The Sudan People’s Liberation Army-North (SPLA-N) gained partial control of Alatmor in Sudan’s South Kordofan State, said rebel spokesperson Arnu Ngutulu Lodi, who vowed to keep fighting until in control of the whole area.

The Sudan People’s Liberation Army-North (SPLA-N) gained partial control of Alatmor in Sudan’s South Kordofan State, said rebel spokesperson Arnu Ngutulu Lodi, who vowed to keep fighting until in control of the whole area.

In a statement obtained by Radio Tamazuj Tuesday, Lodi claimed they inflicted heavy losses on the Sudan Armed Forces (SAF) in Alatmor.

“We started shelling the area with bombs before launching an attack, so we managed to destroy tanks and about 21 cars, besides killing and wounding several SAF soldiers,” he said.

Lodi said three SPLA-N soldiers were killed and fifteen wounded during clashes.

However, the SAF said they repelled the SPLA-N attack, killing up to 110 rebels in a three hour battle, according to spokesperson al-Sawarmi Khalid Sa’ad.

Khalid Sa’ad said four SAF soldiers were killed and several wounded.

The Sudanese national army with support by the Rapid Support Force reportedly captured Alatmor area on June 6, following the capture of Dalko area.
