The Deputy Chairman of the Sudan People’s Liberation Movement-North (SPLM-N), Jodgod Mukuar Marda, officiated the graduation of 588 policemen in Kudi-Ba, Kauda in Sudan’s Nuba Mountains Region on Tuesday.
The colorful event was witnessed by more than 1,500 people and the SPLM-N official appreciated the regional police leadership for their initiative and hard work in making the event a success.
Makuar congratulated the policemen on completing their training and reassured the public about their safety.
“We have come here today to graduate and congratulate you and advise you on your work. We are pleased to be here. A policeman is an upright individual and protects the masses and we know you are going to make a positive change and contribution,” he said. “Let the public respect the rule of law and the police will protect them using the law. The citizens will now live in peace. You the police must also live in harmony with citizens so that you can get information about criminals from every sector.”
Makuar added: “I also urge the public to volunteer information to the police so that they can carry out their duties smoothly.”
He stated that the graduating batch named after the late Ahamadd Almamun is special because it has several graduates who will make police work easy in the Nuba Mountains. He added that some of the graduates will be sent for further training.
The SPLM-N senior official also advised farmers to cultivate early and plant crops that mature fast like maize, pumpkin beans, and others.
“Our community of the Nuba Mountains can come out of poverty through agriculture,” Makuar counseled.
For his part, Lt. Ernesto Alganam, the senior police instructor, encouraged the graduating policemen to do their work diligently and said his group was ready to train the next batch of policemen.
“I welcome all the visitors who have graced this occasion of graduating this batch. We also congratulate this batch that has graduated today and I am confident that they can do their police duties to satisfaction wherever they are deployed,” he said. “I encourage the graduates to do their work properly and go and perform well wherever they are sent.”
“We are ready to train the next batch of policemen in Kudi Ba, Kauda, in Nuba Mountains,” Lt. Alganam added.
He said that he is confident that the graduating batch will be able to solve some of the problems in the Nuba Mountains Region and other areas.
The training took six months.
