A local field commander of the SPLA-IO accused government forces of killing three civilians in the Basia and Gaitan areas of Western Bahr el Ghazal yesterday.

Speaking to Radio Tamazuj, Abdalla Ojang said that three civilians were killed in response to the death of an SPLA soldier last Sunday.

“Two people were killed in Basia on Monday and another one was killed in the Gaitan area yesterday,” Ojang said.

Ojang accused government forces of attacking civilians, claiming that the armed opposition are committed to the ceasefire agreement, but will act in self-defense.

The SPLM Commissioner of Basia County did not deny the incident and said he had no further information.
