Dozens of SPLA-IO forces in Yei River State are moving to Moroto military training center after food supplies were sent to the site, a military official said.
The SPLA-IO spokesperson in the state, Wayi Godwil Edward told Radio Tamazuj Wednesday that eight trucks loaded with bags of sorghum, sugar, salt and beans arrived at the military base on Monday.
“On Monday, we received eight trucks loaded with food items. Our forces have started going to Moroto training ground while some have already gone to Gorom for training,” Wayi said.
“What we need is not only food, but tents, clean water, drugs and other basic necessities for forces at the training center,” he added.
Last week, SPLA-IO military officials in Kendila cantonment site said lack of food items was delaying movement of their forces to Moroto centre.
Wayi expressed concerns over reluctance by government troops to move to the designated Moroto training center.
The SPLA-IO official urged the leadership of the Joint Defence Board (JDB) to ensure the timely reporting of government forces and other opposition forces to the joint military training center in Moroto.
“We have not seen government forces and other opposition groups going to the training center. It is our call that the JDB leadership ensures the government forces are equally moved to Moroto,” he added.
The number of states and transitional security arrangements are the key sticking issues to be addressed before parties form a unity government next month.
