An armed opposition (SPLA-IO) official in Western Equatoria State has urged soldiers given permission to see their families to urgently report to the training center within a week.

Speaking to Radio Tamazuj last Wednesday, Costa Joseph, the SPLA-IO spokesperson for the state said the appeal goes to soldiers in areas like Namatina, Zomoi, Tambura, Yambio, Maridi and Kitiba.

He warned that the soldiers who report late would not graduate. Costa urged SPLA-IO soldiers who obtained the information to notify others.

The second phase of the graduation of the forces is set for June 10.

The process of gathering government and opposition forces into training sites with a view to forming a unified army is a cornerstone of the 2018 peace agreement.
