SPLA-IO rebels allegedly loot and burn health centre in Maban County

SPLA-IO fighters have allegedly carried out an attack on Bugaya area in Maban County of Upper Nile State earlier this week, a local official said.

During the attack on Bugaya area, the rebels burned a healthcare centre and took a large quantity of medicines as well as medical equipments, head of health services Mayak Malok told Radio Tamazuj.

He further said the attack in the area forced a large number of local residents to flee to various areas in Bunj town.

In January, the SPLA-IO rebels attack Jendrasa area in Maban County. At least four women and girls were thought to have been abducted by the rebels during that attack.

Separately, the health official disclosed that a large quantity of expired medicines at Blue Nile refugee camps in Maban will be burned on Monday.

He added the disposal of the expired medicines will be carried out by organizations in the presence of the local authorities in Yusuf Batil camp.
