Lam Paul Gabriel, a deputy military spokesman for the opposition SPLA-IO, has confirmed the death of their general from Eastern Equatoria in the capital Juba.

Major General Ohisa Robert was a senior military officer among SPLA-IO officers who came to Juba to oversee the implementation of security arrangements.

Speaking to Radio Tamazuj this evening, Colonel Lam Paul said Major General Ohisa Robert passed away in Juba on Monday.

 “General Ohisa hailed from Lopit area in Eastern Equatoria State. He was deployed to Western Bahr el Ghazal to supervise the training of the unified forces, and before the lockdown, he came back to Juba from Wau,” he said.

He added,” Ohisa was feeling unwell since he came back from Wau. So we were shocked three days ago when we heard that he fell unconscious in Crown Hotel and then taken to Freedom Hospital where he passed away.”

According to the SPLA-IO deputy spokesman, the cause of Ohisa’s death was not immediately known.

“The burial hasn’t taken place because we were supposed to carry his body this morning and we are still waiting for the result to really know what happened, “said Lam.

Colonel Lam described the death of General Ohisa as a great loss to the nation.
