South Sudan rebels are accused of forcibly recruiting civilians into their ranks along the Upper Nile-Sudan border.

South Sudan rebels are accused of forcibly recruiting civilians into their ranks along the Upper Nile-Sudan border.

Multiple sources told Radio Tamazuj that opposition fighters have taken about 20 citizens at Joda North checkpoint to their military training centres in the Jenbelain area of Sudan’s White Nile on Wednesday.

South Sudan nationals at refugee camps in White Nile said they fear abduction by the rebels.

Refugees blamed the Sudanese government for abduction of civilians, while accusing the Sudanese government of supporting the rebels to forcefully recruit civilians.

Separately, the conflict-affected refugees complained about shortages of food and other services, saying they did not receive food rations since August until now.

Radio Tamazuj could not reach opposition forces in the area to comment on the clams.
