The Sudan People’s Liberation Army (SPLA) Division Six (6) in Maridi town under the command of Gen. William Manyang has returned 10 mattresses looted by soldiers to their owners in Ngumunde area.
The handing over ceremony of the items that were looted following fighting in July last year was attended by government officials, SPLA officers and traditional leaders in the area.
Speaking during the handing over ceremony, the SPLA commander in the area said that the move shows love between the SPLA army and civilians. He pointed out that they are mandated to protect people and their properties.
The top commander apologized to the traditional leaders of Ngamunde area on behave of the SPLA army, saying it was a mistake made by the soldiers.
He explained that the looted items were 10 mattresses, solar panels, radio, mobile phones and bed as well as table money, but they could identify those who took them.
For his part, Ezekia kumba, chief of Ngumunde, thanked the SPLA Division Six for protecting when Riek Machar’s forces were crossing through the area last year.
