SPLA collects over 1200 mixed weapons during Juba search operation

The command of the Sudan People’s Liberation Army (SPLA), has concluded a house to house search in the national capital, Juba.

 The unannounced operation saw the participation of different organized forces and different security organs, resulting in the collection of up to 1200 different type of weapons and the arrest of at least 9 suspects involved in illegal activities.

 Acting spokesperson Col Santo Domic Chol said on Thursday that the joint command force had managed to collect 1200 pieces of different weapons and assorted equipment, and arrested over 9 criminals during house to house searching in Juba. 

“So far more than 1200 pieces of different weapons and assorted equipment have been apprehended in Juba. 400 weapons are found unauthorized and they are kept in the armory for further orders”, he said.

“However, after screening, most of the weapons belong to units of various organized forces and some were licensed to some citizens of high status like MPs, business members and the retired senior officers and politicians”, Col Domic told news conference.  

He said Rules of engagement have been established collectively by the combined command of the combined force to govern the whole operation to secure Juba.

‘This has been the source of arrival at the present discipline and professional dealing with the civil population without reports of violations and misunderstanding”.  

Col Domic said a group of criminals composed of 9 people during the screening of cars registration where arrested in the police waiting for trial process anytime.  16 different typts of cars which have either been stolen or none registered have apprehended.

Meanwhile, 20 people with forged identity of being officers in various organized armed forces have been intercepted and arrested.
