SPLA clash with armed men in Kimba

The SPLA and armed men clashed on Tuesday morning in the Kimba Payam of Morobo County near the Ugandan border.

Eyewitness say the fighting began near a funeral, causing mourners to disperse and locals to flee for their life. Both civilians and armed men appeared to be among the casualties.

The Yei River State Information Minister Steven Ladu said that armed men attacked the SPLA garrison in Kimba. He said the attack that started around 11 in the morning, and the SPLA repulsed the attackers. Ladu said that the population was affected but did not mention the number of causalities.

The minister said the state was calm despite the attack in Kimba, and the food supply into Yei has dwindled. Rural markets in Mugwo Payam, Lasu Payam, Kendila have been inaccessible due to fighting in the area.
