Aircrafts belonging to the Sudanese government have reportedly dropped bombs in various areas in South Sudan’s Upper Nile state.
Speaking to Radio Tamazuj Tuesday, SPLA military spokesman Philip Aguer said the bombing resulted in the killing of at least six civilians and wounding of nine others.
He said the Sudanese airplane targeted Babnis and Adham areas in Renk County and Shata area in Maban County.
The bombing resulted into the killing of six people including four children and wounding of nine SPLA soldiers, according to Aguer.
“The SPLA headquarters issued a statement and condemned this act of aggression by the Sudanese air force. We hope that Sudan stops bombing border areas for the sake of development in the areas along the border,” he said.
He revealed that they don’t have communications with the Sudanese army to know the reason for dropping bombs inside South Sudanese territory.
The SPLA officer called upon the Sudanese army to cooperate and stop hostilities for the sake of citizens’ stability along the common border of the two countries.
Sudanese warplanes have bombed Upper Nile State, and other areas including Northern Bahr al Ghazal state and Raja County in Western Bahr al Ghazal state over the past year, according to South Sudanese officials. Radio Tamazuj couldn’t reach the Sudanese army spokesman Al Swarmi Khalid Saad to comment on the matter.
