Soldiers from the Sudan People’s Liberation Army reportedly attacked a convoy carrying Tombura County Commissioner Gbamisi Babiro Charles in the Source Yubu area of Western Equatoria state.

Charles told Radio Tamazuj that he tried to enter an SPLA garrison in an attempt to resolve differences between soldiers deployed to the area and local residents. There have been reports that members of the SPLA have been attacking civilians.

Five people were accompanying him, including a chief and a security official who was wounded in the attack.

“I want to tell the citizens and the youth not to go out until this problem return to normal, because if you go out you can be hurt,” Thomas said. “The youth should stay in their places. I also advise our top leaders in Yambio to look into the problems quickly.”
