South Sudan students studying in Zimbabwe on government scholarships are at risk of being dismissed from their universities as the government is late for several months in disbursing tuition fees, according to Moses Kat Monyjok, the students’ leader.

Kat, a student studying engineering in Zimbabwe, told Radio Tamazuj on Monday that the government couldn’t pay tuition fees for 140 university students.

The student, who is currently in Juba to meet the country’s First Vice-President, urged the government to cover their tuition requirements saying an amount of over million USD is needed by the universities in Zimbabwe.

"If the government can pay $ 450,000 that will be helpful,” he said.

He pointed out that although the students are in a holiday this month in Zimbabwe; many South Sudanese students are at risk of being denied accommodation by Friday if the government fails to pay their tuition fees.

South Sudan government had paid $500 only after students protested and occupied the embassy in Harare.
