A group of South Sudanese scholars and researchers last Friday formed an association dubbed South Sudan Studies Association (SSSA) that would provide a platform to educate and inform policy makers on significant issues affecting the people of South Sudan.
Luka Biong Deng Kuol, one of the researchers said the idea was arrived at in Tanzania where they held a two-day discussion.
“South Sudan Studies Association (SSSA) has been formed after Some South Sudanese scholars, researchers and activists met from 5 to 7th July 2018 in Kilimanjaro, Tanzania to set their research agenda. On 6th July 2018 and three days before our independence, these scholars and researchers have decided to establish SSSA, South Sudan Studies Association, as a forum for articulating their voices and inform public policies during this critical time,” Biong said.
According to Biong, the discussions were facilitated by the London School of Economics under the Conflict Research Project initiated by Professor Alex De Waal of teh American Tufts University.
