South Sudanese minister objects to being called ‘arrogant’

Michael Makuei Lueth, South Sudan’s Minister of Information and Broadcasting, says that people should not say that he is ‘arrogant’ or else he will take them to court.

He addressed a gathering of journalists and other officials at the New Sudan Palace Hotel on Sunday evening.

“Most of you here are young journalists, and I do excuse you simply because I believe that, yes, some of you might have been misled by the big boys,” he said, referring to an older generation of journalists. “This is exactly the situation.”

“Even me personally I would have taken some of you to the court, when you refer to me as an ‘arrogant minister.’ When you refer to me as an ‘arrogant minister’ it is a personal attack,” stated Lueth.

“And I can take you to the court and you will be made to compensate me a compensation that you will not be in a position to pay.”

Lueth did not specify which media outlet had referred to him as an “arrogant minister.”
