South Sudanese ex-police protest non-payment of pension

Police broke up a protest on Tuesday in Khartoum by South Sudanese ex-police demanding the full payments of their pensions. The police beat them and tried to violently disperse the protest, said Luka Malwaj head of pensions for South Sudan. Protestors submitted a memorandum to the ministry of justice demanding the police speed up the process and pay their old colleagues their pensions. Police chief Al Sir Ahmed Omar said all those South Sudanese citizens that used to work for the Sudanese state that have completed the correct procedure to receive the pension have been paid.
