Sixteen education officials from the states of South Sudan’s Bahr el Ghazal region and the Abyei Administrative Area concluded a two day training on education management information system (EMIS) in Kuacjok town.

Northern Bahr El Ghazal state Education Management Information System EMIS Focal Point Mr. Peter Deng Deng has acknowledged the importance of training saying he is going to train head teachers on accurate data collection ahead of this year’s annual education census.

“First, we are going to train head teachers so they will collect accurate information and second we will tell them to cover all schools because when accurate data are collected I believe it will help the education authorities to make right decisions,” he said.

“I know some teacher will be tempted to give wrong data may be due capitation grants or one want to fulfil his or her personal interest and as such you are misleading some body somewhere that will also lead to wrong planning and wrong information,” he added.

He revealed that there will be thorough cross check after teachers have fill questionnaires in order to avoid inaccurate data collection saying that it will be done by random selection of any school.

Speaking to participants during the closing ceremony, the director general in the national ministry of education Abdallah Ali asked all participants to return to their respective state and help to impart the skills they acquired to the head teachers.

The annual education census is done by the national ministry of education to know the numbers of children in schools, numbers of schools build in concrete and among others information that can help the ministry to plan well.
