South Sudanese and Sudanese continue to enjoy and reaffirm timeless relations and deep fraternal ties despite their separation into different countries, Sultan Deng Bol, the head of South Sudanese chiefs in the Sudan’s Blue Nile Region has said.

The chief made the remarks last Thursday during the participation of the South Sudanese Community in the celebrations of Al-Damazin Province which were organized by the local government’s social communication program.

Speaking to Radio Tamazuj, Sultan Deng also urged South Sudan’s President Salva Kiir Mayardit to continue diplomatic mediations to halt the war and bring peace to Sudan.

“The stability of Sudan and the Blue Nile Region is closely linked to the stability of South Sudan, as the two countries are bound by narrow borders,” he emphasized. “Indeed, the wars in Khartoum and Medani have led to widespread displacement and people fleeing to seek refuge.”

On his part, Mayor Juma Hamid of the Al-Missiriya tribe and the chairman of the Committee for Good Efforts and Conflict Resolution for the tribes of Kordofan and Darfur in Blue Nile called for cohesion, unity, and solidarity. He also hailed the high level of social cohesion achieved by the programs.

“This activity has led to the integration of all components of Blue Nile without discrimination or bias and such activity is what Al-Damazin Province is committed to,” he stated.

Meanwhile, Christina Paulo, a South Sudanese participant in the celebrations, said South Sudanese nationals live in harmony with other communities in Blue Nile.

“The South Sudanese community lives in harmony and coherence with the various components of the region,” she stated.

Paulo also praised the blending and strengthening of relations, pointing to the level of security and stability enjoyed by the communities in the region.
