A South Sudanese businessman has been found hanged in the room of a hotel in the Kenyan capital Nairobi, the embassy said.

Chol Ajongo Mawut, South Sudan’s Ambassador to Kenya, told Radio Tamazuj on Monday that Kenyan police are investigating the death of a South Sudanese man found lifeless in his hotel room in Nairobi on Thursday night.

He revealed that the body of businessman Akec Gak Khot was discovered at a hotel in Ngara area. The man’s body has been transferred to mortuary awaiting postmortem, according to the South Sudanese diplomat.

“The body was discovered when hotel staff entered the room to check on Akec’s well-being. He was found lying on the floor with a rope around his neck. I have already sent a team from the embassy to follow-up on the matter with the police,” he said.

Akec Gak, 47, was on a business trip in Nairobi when he died, Ajongo said.

Ambassador Ajongo further said police are still investigating the incident.
