South Sudan’s Vice President, James Wani Igga, headed to neighbouring Uganda to take part in the presidential summit of Nile Basin states scheduled for June 21-22, a spokesman for the foreign ministry said.

Mawien Makol Ariik, the official spokesman of the ministry of foreign affairs, told Radio Tamazuj this afternoon that the presidential gathering will be attended by Vice President James Wani Igga.

However, Ariik pointed out that they have not yet received the agenda of the presidential summit that will bring together all Nile Basin countries.

The Kampala summit is considered the first meeting for the head of states of the Nile Basin since the Entebbe deal was signed in 2010.

From May 2010 to early 2011, six of the Nile Basin's upstream countries, Uganda, Rwanda, Tanzania, Ethiopia, Kenya and Burundi, signed the Entebbe Agreement, a deal strongly protested by Egypt and Sudan.
