South Sudan’s government plans to organize a cultural festival in Juba with the participation of people from neighbouring Sudan, a senior government official said.

Agum Riing, Undersecretary at South Sudan’s Ministry of Culture, Youth and Sports, told Radio Tamazuj yesterday that her ministry will organize the event in February.

The official pointed out that the festival aims to celebrate cultural diversity between the two countries under the theme, “Communication Bridge between Sudan and South Sudan”.

Riing explained that the idea of the festival came after their participation in the Khartoum International Book Fair, saying many Sudanese artists are willing to participate in the festival in Juba.

In October last year, Sudan South participated in the 13th session of the Khartoum International Book Fair with the participation of over 350 local and foreign publishing houses.
