South Sudan takes part in East Africa Military Games in Nairobi

South Sudanese military sports teams travelled to Kenya this week to participate in the 12th edition of the East African Community Military Championship.

The games which started on Tuesday bring together military teams from Burundi, Rwanda, South Sudan, Kenya, Tanzania and Uganda. South Sudan will be represented in only two disciples (athletics and basketball).

In the first game on Wednesday, South Sudan’s basketball team was thrashed by the Kenya Defence Forces team by 66 against 62 points.

The South Sudan People’s Defence Forces athletics team will participate in the 10-kilometre run which will take place on Sunday.

South Sudan will be competing for a second time having made their debut in the last edition.  All events are being held in Kasarani stadium in Nairobi.

The events are scheduled to run from 11 August to 24, under the theme,” One People, One Destiny”.
