South Sudanese Minister of Higher Education Yien Oral Lam met today with Sudan’s Ambassador to Juba Osman Ahmed at his office where they discussed bilateral relations and prospects of educational cooperation between the two countries.
Speaking to reporters after the meeting, Minister Yien said that they discussed the 2012 agreement signed by the two Sudans and other issues related to South Sudanese students in Sudan.
The government official further said they also touched on the issue of pensions for South Sudanese who had served in the ministry of higher education in Sudan before South Sudan’s independence in 2011.
“So the ambassador has expressed his readiness to cooperate with us in all these areas, he will raise the issues we have discussed to the relevant authorities, so we are happy to have him here this morning, “said Oral.
For his part, Ambassador Osman Ahmed said that they discussed issues pertaining to bilateral relations and historic ties between the two countries.
“We have discussed the special relations, and also how to improve relations in the area of education between one people in the two countries, and we also discussed how to improve our relations in the other fields,” said Osman.
