South Sudan’s National Security Service this afternoon have detained Jok Solomon, a photojournalist working with the independent weekly newspaper ‘New Nation,’ based in Juba.
Jok was detained while covering a story at one of the petrol stations in Juba town. He was taking photos of people lined up at one of the petrol stations waiting for the fuel, since the city is facing a fuel shortage since several weeks ago.
Radio Tamazuj confirmed the arrest independently. As of about 4:30 p.m. he remained in detention.
This comes after a newspaper editor of Juba Monitor was summoned by authorities on Thursday.
