South Sudan’s Ministry of General Education has announced the postponement of Secondary School Certificate examinations from 9 January to 6 March.
In a press conference in Juba, Deng Deng Hoc, Minister of Education, said that the postponement was due to slowed funding of the National Examinations Council to procure the logistics for the operation.
Deng pointed out that the students were supposed to sit for the exams on 9 January, but the exercise will begin on 9th March.
“One was the delay of transfer of money from the ministry of Finance to the accounts of National Examination Council and also to the accounts of the two printing companies supplying the council with Ink, paper and security envelopes, those reason forced the National Examination Council to postpone the examinations to March,” he said.
He noted that the distribution of examination papers to all states will start immediately when they are printed. He pointed out that students under the Sudanese curriculum are welcome to write their examinations along with those doing the Sudan School Certificate Examinations.
