South Sudan’s police inspector threatens to execute police over rape cases

South Sudan’s inspector general said they will execute any member of police involved in crimes including rape and stealing of civilians’ properties, warning all police officers not to involve in crimes.

South Sudan’s inspector general said they will execute any member of police involved in crimes including rape and stealing of civilians’ properties, warning all police officers not to involve in crimes.

Gen. Saeed Chawul Lom said this during a workshop for police personnel organized by South Sudan’s Human Rights Commission on Wednesday.

Saeed called on the police officers to adhere to their code of conduct which requires them to respect citizens. He added that any policeman found involved in rape case will be shot dead immediately.

Meanwhile, the deputy chairperson of human rights commission, Nyol Justin Yach, called on government troops to stop committing atrocities against civilians.
