South Sudan’s Ministry of Agriculture to spray pesticides in Upper Nile state

A delegation of the National Agriculture Ministry, headed by the Minister Beda Machar has inspected the agricultural schemes in Renk, Upper Nile state.

Speaking to Radio Tamazuj, Salah Deng of the Northern Upper Nile’s Farmers Union stated that the Union discussed with the ministerial delegation the challenges of farming in the area. The Ministry affirmed that they are working to attract investors in the agriculture sector.

The Minister promised to send an aircraft to spray pesticides. “The expected spraying will start from Paloug airport and from there to other Northern parts,” Deng explained, hoping that this year the agricultural season will thus be better than last year, when a lack of pesticide severely affected the crops.
