South Sudanese President Salva Kiir arrived yesterday in Addis Ababa where he will take part in the ongoing peace talks that reportedly have stalled over security arrangements and other outstanding issues.

SPLM-IO Head of External Relations Committee Dhieu Mathok told Radio Tamazuj Monday that three thematic committees for governance, economy and security have already presented their final report to the mediators.

He added the report listed all the contentious issues between the warring parties and that these issues were referred to the two principles for further discussion.

“The report has incorporated all agreed and disagreed issues, so all these points will be referred to Dr. Machar and Kiir so that they look for a solution” he said.

IGAD-led South Sudan peace talks have a deadline of 5 March in this current ‘final round’ of talks. Both sides had agreed that their ‘Principals’ — Salva Kiir and Riek Machar — would lead the negotiations, but Salva Kiir instead showed up nearly two weeks late to the talks.
