South Sudan’s Islamic Council has mourned the passing of Presidential Adviser on Religious Affairs and Secretary-General of the Islamic Council, Al-Tahir Bior Lueth Ajak, who died in Juba on Sunday evening.

South Sudan’s Islamic Council has mourned the passing of Presidential Adviser on Religious Affairs and Secretary-General of the Islamic Council, Al-Tahir Bior Lueth Ajak, who died in Juba on Sunday evening.

Al-Tahir Bior, who hailed from Dinka Bor, died of a heart attack on Sunday evening.

Sheikh Juma Ali from the Islamic Council said they were saddened by Ajak’s sudden death. “We lost him, he was a liberator, a commander and also someone who worked for the unity of the South Sudanese,” said Juma.

Ajak was appointed by President Kiir as his adviser on religious affairs in 2016. He had also served in the SPLA army during the liberation struggle in South Sudan.
