South Sudan’s health ministry said it cancelled the use of a ‘Police Investigation Form 8’ before administering treatment of emergency cases in hospitals and private clinics in the country.

South Sudan's health ministry said it cancelled the use of a ‘Police Investigation Form 8’ before administering treatment of emergency cases in hospitals and private clinics in the country.

“In One Sudan or in the last six years, if you incur an injury, you are denied medical services unless you provide From 8. And during the course of trying to acquire From 8 you could lose your life, but today it has been cancelled,” Riek Gai Kok, Minister of Health told reporters in Juba on Tuesday.

The official pointed out that treatment of emergency cases has been a challenge in the country because hospitals require presentation of the Police Investigation Form 8.

"Form 8 is cancelled. If you sustain any injury you just rush to any nearby health facility for treatment without Form 8," said Kok.

Gai ordered all public hospitals and private clinics to implement the ministerial order.
