South Sudan’s former Minister of Interior Alison Manani Magaya died on Monday in Geneva after a critical illness that reportedly left him in a coma for several days.
Magaya was replaced in a cabinet reshuffle in mid-2013. Most recently he was serving as South Sudan’s Ambassador to Switzerland until his death.
He was accredited as South Sudan’s ambassador to Switzerland early this year. “Today we lost our ambassador in Geneva, Switzerland,” a source confirmed.
The late Magaya also previously worked as minister of labour prior to his appointment to the ministry of interior. He hailed from Western Equatoria State.
