South Sudanese children are out of school at refugee camps in the northeast of Haut-Uele province in the Democratic Republic of the Congo, according to parents.

Speaking to Radio Tamazuj on Thursday, several refugees at Meri Refugee Camp complained of the poor state of education available in the area.

They pointed out that education is not a priority for organisations at the camp, adding that their children are currently out of school.

Maurice Taban, chairman of the refugee camp, complained about the poor humanitarian situation at the camp. He appealed to the relevant authorities and humanitarian organizations to take care of their children’s future.

Maurice also complained that they lack sufficient access to health care at the camp.
