South Sudanese rebels loyal to the country’s former First Vice President Riek Machar last week released three civil society activities arrested in Wau State.

The three civil society activists spent more than four months in opposition detention centres in Western Bahr al Ghazal region.

Nichola Gabriel Adam, SPLA-IO’s military spokesman in Western Bahr al Ghazal, told Radio Tamazuj on Tuesday that the release of the three activists was in line with implementation of the cessation of hostilities agreement signed in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia in December last year.

CEPO's state coordinator Stephen Robo confirmed the release of the three activists by the opposition group allied to Riek Machar in the state. He identified the released activists as Angelo Bencencio, Anthony Jabakhana and Natali Arkangelo Bandas.
