South Sudan rebel figures have begun to arrive in the Netherlands for meetings.

Sources told Radio Tamazuj this afternoon that the holdout opposition groups plan to forge a united front against the government. They disclosed that former leading members of the former political detainees are also part of the meeting that will take place in the Netherlands on Thursday.

The sources said representatives of the opposition National Salvation Front (NAS) and South Sudan United Front/Army (SSUF/A) will participate in the meeting.

The gathering, expected to last for two days, comes days after the parties to the revitalised peace deal finished talks in Ethiopia with little progress toward ending a deadlock over the number and boundaries of states.

Several opposition groups, including those led by former army chief Paul Malong and General Thomas Cirillo are not part of the peace deal signed in September 2018.

Under the peace deal, opposition leader Riek Machar, along with four others will serve as Kiir's deputies. But the peace deal is already behind schedule and there are worries that the parties to the peace agreement may not meet a November 12 deadline to form a new government.
