A team of dissidents from the South Sudan Armed Forces/Federal Democratic Party, a group which broke away from Riek Machar’s SPLM/A-In Opposition rebel group, said they met with President Salva Kiir last Monday.

Gabriel Yoal Dok, leader of the SSAF/FDP dissidents, said in an interview Thursday that they presented a list of demands to the government for negotiation and are now waiting for feedback.

“My colleagues and I met President Salva Kiir and we held frank and straightforward talks with him. We discussed about peace and our commitment to peaceful dialogue so that we open a new page of forgiveness, reconciliation and healing process,” Yoal said.

Yoal did not give details as to the demands they presented to Kiir as they are still under negotiation. He said he was happy to return home to Juba.
