South Sudan: rains will cut trade through Tonj South County

Tonj South County Commssioner William Wol said he fears his region would be cut off from the rest of Warrap by the rains.

Wol told Radio Tamazuj that already poor roads from Juba, Wau, and Tonj East could become impassable during wet weather

He said his county is located along central trade routes from Equatoria to Bahr el Ghazal, and if transportation is cut then the three states of greater Bhar el Ghazal will not receive goods from Uganda.

He asked the national government to intervene before the rains.

Wol added that this year’s agricultural production in Tonj South will be very low because the rains came too early in April.
