South Sudanese President Salva Kiir is scheduled to visit the Sudanese capital Khartoum today Monday to participate in a signing ceremony for the Renaissance Dam project.
Mayan Dut Wol, South Sudan Ambassador to Khartoum said in a press statement that Kiir would be accompanied by a high-level delegation including some ministers.
The planned visit comes after al-Bashir invited Kiir to Sudan, according to the South Sudanese diplomat. He further said South Sudan is one of the countries in the region which will benefit from the construction of the Renaissance Dam especially in terms of electricity.
Dut pointed out that Kiir would also hold talks with his Sudanese counterpart Omer al Bashir on several issues including the implementation of the 2012 Cooperation Agreement between Juba and Khartoum.
